New Business:

Doug Galloway talked about officers to serve in 2019 and asked Linda Moretz to share the list of nominees who are willing to serve our association in 2019.  The list of nominees are as follows:

Doug Galloway remain as President, Tracey Carriker as Vice President, Mickey Hollar as Program Chair.   Melodie Yancey (Treasurer) and Linda Moretz (Secretary) asked to step down for 2019.  The Nominations Committee nominated Julia Brown for Treasurer and Sara Kennedy as Secretary. The floor was open to other nominations (none recommended). Danny Jaynes confirmed the 2019 nominees by acclamation.

Thanks to these individuals who are willing to serve our association in 2019!

NCSBA has asked if Caldwell County Beekeepers would be willing to help co-host the Summer Beekeeping Conference in 2019 which will be in Hickory, NC.  They need volunteers and our commitment, so please consider if you are willing to put in some time and work for this event.  Be prepared to vote at the October meeting.  There will be a Silent Auction at this event and donations are needed.

Dave Ackerman, Program Director of the Beekeepers of Wilkes County invited any of our members who are interested to attend their October 8, 2018 meeting. Speaker will be the NCDA & CS director of Pest Management. Prior to the meeting the Private Pesticide Applicators License test will be given. If you are interested in taking it, contact Dave to arrange to receive study material and details about the testing.

Due to the Eastern Apiculture Society Meeting from July 15 -19, 2019, which falls during the week of our regularly scheduled meeting, our officers have agreed to a date change on next year’s calendar of meeting. The July 18, 2019 meeting will be moved back a week to Thursday, July 25, 2019.

A suggestion was made to move the August Picnic back to a time that may not be so hot, after review and a vote, the decision was made to leave in August.

Mickey Hollar has Raffle tickets for the Hive Scale donated by Hidden Happiness Bee Farm go on sale. A ticket is $5.00 or 3 tickets for $10.00.

The Honey Extractor is now back at the Extension Office, if you would like to use it, please contact one of the officers so they can advise the Agriculture Extension office that you will be coming to pick it up.  There is a time slot and limit as to how the extractor can be checked out.

Glenn Hackney our guest speaker for the night talked about Nosema, tracheal mites, mini bacteria.  He also brought the needed tools so volunteers could dissect their bees and view them under the microscope.

-VOLUNTEERS EDUCATION:  Tracey Carriker, Linda  Moretz (when available), Doug Galloway, Mack Whiteside, Amy Burchette, Aziz Bootwala, Edwin Miller, Scott Barlow, Patrick Muldoon, Bud Faw, Danny & Mary Jaynes, Sara Kennedy (new member), Jeffrey Smith wants to accompany someone first time. ANYONE THAT WOULD LIKE TO BE ADDED PLEASE LET LINDA MORETZ KNOW.

-Mickey Hollar is in charge of refreshments and needs folks to volunteer during the year to pick a month to bring some goodies for our meetings.
